La Dea

La Dea isn’t one of histories favorite team but we had a good run in the 1988 Cup Winners Cup, the 1991 UEFA Cup Quarterfinals and we managed to win the 1963 Coppa Italia while also winning the Serie C1 in 1982, B in 1940, 1959, 1984, and 2005.

The fireworks didn’t properly blow up and we placed a decent 9th position last year in the Serie A with some good games, draws and losses but at least we weren’t relegated. But enough of the past its time for the FUTURE! With Colantuono gone to manage Citta di Palermo Luigi “Gigi” Del Neri decided to bring Bobo Vieri on board with a one year contract which will show us whether or not his gorgeous penalty miss against the Rangers is still affecting him. With the rest of the team it looks brighter though considering five players were loaned in and eight loaned out last season a new look may be good. Of course we have a co-ownership deal for Luca Cigarini, a promising midfielder, who plays for Parma F.C in the Serie B. With some big offers reportedly coming from Villarreal and some Serie A clubs interested it may be a way for us to get cash.

We also signed Jaime Valdez who might be able to play beside Doni, Guarente and the rest of the boys in the midfield. Up front we lost Inzaghi, Muslimovic, Langella and Tiboni who returned on loan but still Bobo Vieri, Cerci, Cisse, Defendi (Defendi seems more like a defenders name…), Floccari and youngster Marconi might be able to make things happen. The backline isn’t the strongest in Italy either which means we should play with a more defensive formation such as a 5-4-1, 4-1-4-1 or 4-4-1-1 against the better teams. Coppola, Forsyth and Consigli are still between the pipes and I personally prefer Coppola.

My Lineup
GK – Coppola
LB – Bellini
CB – Talamonti
CB – Garics
RB – Rivalta
LM – Padoin
CM – Guarente
CM – Doni
RM – Costinha
ST – Vieri
ST – Defendi

If Bobo stays healthy and we don’t get a load of injuries we should be able to place higher than before but we need a big name signing or two to come in and shake things up. Maybe with some luck we could get a place in the Euro Vase.

Welcome aboard Marco, I’ve had a soft spot for La Dea since three of my teammates in my hometown team hail from Bergamo.
