Siena – Hotlanta
By: Marco | January 24th, 2009
After our historic 3-1 trouncing (yes that’s right) of Inter we head to Siena hoping to build up the momentum again which shouldn’t be impossible. What is funny though is that both teams have completely different mindsets. We want to get higher up in the table and closer to Europe while Siena want to hold on to a spot in the Serie A. What we all know about relegation fodder is that they will fight to the death and scrap for a single point. Two things might happen. One we beat them or two we underestimate them and we lose. Hopefully we don’t do what Milan did last season against the minnows and lose. But I do have confidence in my boys going into the next match.
Siena had a great result against Tuscan rivals Fiorentina which goes to show they cannot be underestimated. Also add in wins against some of the big four from last season and early this season they can pose a big threat if the night goes there way. They have home advantage and expect them to fight for every ball like a team of Gattuso’s without the beard and general ability.
Atalanta have opened the new year in a great way by topping Inter in an suprising result but losing to Palermo 3-2. The Palermo result was unlucky though considering our collective defense and keeper brain fart which resulted in Cavani getting the game winner. We have shown that we can hang with the big boys on any given night and can fight in our own right so even though we are away Siena should lose. Floccari and Doni are in great form right now while Cigarini is back and Curci can get back between the pipes after serving a two game suspension.
My prediction is a 1-0 win for Atalanta. A close game but if we play right we should get most of the possession. Siena will drop back and hit us off the counter. The confidence boost from the Inter came can either hurt us or help us so hopefully it will help us get three points.
Now for some musings. If any of you read you should pick up The Legend of Drizzt (Collectors Edition) Book One. Not only does it have an nice cover it also contains three books about the man, the myth and the legend, Drizzt Do’Urden. I never really liked fantasy except for Tolkien’s stuff and some Forgotten Realms but in my journey for creating a character to write about this book is helping me out. Salvatore is a great author and his style can be exciting (I know…books? exciting? WHAT THE **** are you talking about? I don’t read books.) and he manages to make the world that Drizzt is in believable and has plenty of colorful characters. He also describes fight scenes that make it feel like you are in the middle of the action which goes to show his talent as a writer. Barnes and Noble with their awesome member cards allowed me to save some serious money on this baby so it was worth it.
Back to the Serie A. Kaka is staying at Milan…yay. Jose Moanhrino (hehe) called his Inter side what they really are, crap, Fiorentina is self destructing (good news for us) and they are trying to use a clever trick to sign Cigarini by offering Donadel. If we accept it then the big heads have to be complete idiots. Give us Kuzmanovic and Donadel…then we can talk. We aren’t being linked to anyone so this mercato should be boring for us but I would like to see some more players coming in after the season. City can come over and buy Sergio for 102M if they want…Doni and Padoin are stating the obvious that we need to worry about complacency and to finish it all off the English Football Associations oops I mean UEFA didn’t add any Italians to the team of the year but did have river dancing extraordinaire and crossover master Ronaldo in the lineup. Big shock there…the tides of anti-calcioism keep coming don’t they? Kaka has had injuries and chronic knee pain and he is still better than Ronaldo but the media always view it differently. And so does every fanboy who are all apparently expert pundits. The world hates Italy and thinks England is the only country that has a league. Sure I have plenty of friends who are English (no Daryl you aren’t one…kidding) and I enjoy fish and chips and I also think that Wenger is a genius but there are other leagues.
Hippies, Chavs and Fanboys are my eternal enemies so I apologize if I offend you. But come on just because Ronaldo does pretty little tricks against weak defenses and chokes during big games doesn’t mean he is gods gift to this world and the only human being that deserves to be acknowledged that plays. Need I remind you what happened when he tried to trick Gattuso? Rino destroyed him twice and Nesta left him in the ditch. Good times. Yes athletically he is a great player and is definitely gifted but his personality sucks and he dives like Arnold during the Predator movie (when he jumped off the waterfall.). His fans aren’t any better also. But that is just me. My team of the year?
Iker Casillas (Spa, Real Madrid); Sergio Ramos (Spa, Real Madrid), (Eng, Chelsea), Carles Puyol (Spa, Barcellona), Philipp Lahm (Ger, Bayern Munich); Kaka (Ita, A.C Milan), Warren Sapp, Cesc Fabregas (Spa, Arsenal), Franck Ribery (Fra, Bayern Munich); Lionel Messi (Arg, Barcellona), Luca Toni (Ita, Bayern Munich).
But I am biased and if you didn’t catch my clever ruse then you must have not read it. Warren Sapp may be fat but he has the speed of Pato and the strength of a truck. He can sack, intercept a pass, juke the best linemen in the NFL out of his jock strap, run like Reggie Bush and do a triple front-flip into the touchdown zone before performing an elaborate victory dance. Enough with the sarcasm I don’t watch the NFL but I do know my Ravens failed. But at least San Jose is going to win the Stanley Cup this year and SK.swe will dominate this year.

Woah didn’t expect to see an SK fan around here, hehe. I was a big fan of coL before they moved to CS:S.
And I totally agree with you about CRonaldo. So annoying that he beats little teams and does nothing special against the bigger clubs, but he’s still the bee’s knees.
I got to see him dive a couple of times when he was playing against Chelsea a few weeks ago.

God I remember the days of the 3D – coL rivalry heck even when SK and NiP were in the mix. Back before Fnatic was even that good. Its weird to see old 3D and coL guys playing for like JMC and EG haha. CGS flopped though and I personally hated the rules. No eco rounds or pistol rounds makes it much easier. Less strats and more shooting I guess. But I still watch 1.6 of course

It was expected. They alienated the only people who cared about the sport and tried to go after the casuals immediately after starting up. Most companies suck up to the hardcore fans before attacking the casuals.
But at least coL is going back to 1.6 and now we should be seeing some crazy intercontinental tourneys again.
I can’t wait for an SK v EG!Posted from
